Solid Perfume Sticks are Here!!

As promised, solid perfume sticks are now available in the shop here.  I wanted to write a post for you to give you more information on what exactly they are since many of you have never used one.

For some background, as many of you know I used to carry roller ball perfume in the shop (and do offer it on clearance until supplies run out). While a percentage of you loved the roller balls, I found them to be too problematic. From a business stand point, rollers had the highest defect rate of any of our products due to the fact that roller leak. It doesn't matter what supplier I use, a percentage of bottles get leaky. Knowing that one of my products carries such a flaw never sat right with me so while looking at where I can streamline and pair down, they were top of the list.

A few months ago, a friend of mine brought me the idea of solid perfume.  At first, I wasn't sure if I would have the bandwidth for such a venture.  After mulling it over awhile, I realized that I already have most of the supplies I need to make it happen. I put a few teaser posts out to get feelers on reaction and perfume stick teasers received some of the biggest social media excitement ever.  They've now gone to two conventions with me with much success.

About Solid Perfume

Our solid perfume uses the same basic ingredients as our lip balm: cocoa butter, candelilla wax, coconut oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil.  This makes it vegan friendly and cruelty free like the rest of our product line.  You rub the stick onto your skin in the areas you enjoy using perfume and then rub it in.  The oils I use shouldn't leave any type of reside (our beta testers have agreed) and it sinks in nicely.

One warning for those not used to solid perfume: It is not a lip balm. The tube may be similar (I make these ones oval and white to differentiate) and five of the ingredients may be similar. It is not a lip balm and should not ever be used on your lips. I have to stress this. The sixth ingredient makes the difference. In a lip balm, I would use a flavor or essential oil. These two oils are lip safe. In a perfume stick, I use a fragrance oil.  Fragrance oils are not lip safe.  It can cause irritation and other reactions.  There are warnings on the tube; however, I want to state them here for double warning.

How Long Does It Last?

This is a question I have been asked quite a bit at conventions. Beta testers have indicated that they get several good hours of scent when they wear their perfume sticks. The tubes themselves last quite awhile. I can't give you a good time estimate on everything because it will change based on user.  We all have different body chemistry so elements react differently to us.

What scents are available?

As of 3/15, there are 38 scents available.  On 4/1, I will add "Sam's Fancy Shampoo" and "J2 Hugs" to the list.  The latter two have been previewed at conventions already. These will NOT be released in all of our scents to help me keep production manageable. Perfume sticks are made in batches of 3-6 rather than one at a time like our candles and body sprays.  You can find the full availability here.

Currently, I do not have this line item on current scent listings to help with inventory control.  I will be working on a solution for that later in the month.

-I hope you enjoy this new product! I'm excited to share it with you.  As always, if you have any concerns or questions or general enthusiams, you can contact me through the website or social media.

Stay nerdy!
-Amanda
